The Motley Crew…

Oh, did I tell you this is my boy?    :)

This past summer my wonderful brother-in-law brought his family down to Florida for a visit.  Since my sister-in-law and her family live next door, we decided to try and do a family portrait in the backyard.  Thinking we were just going to pose people in the backyard, I the “Professional Photographer” had the lights set up and camera ready to go when all of the family was together.  BUT something just ain’t right here?

You probably guessed it.  See the “motley crew” on the left?  Yes, the guy in the red shirt is ME (reason for the b/w), flower shirt is my daughter, and white, striped shirt is my step son!!!  My wife got it right, while the “Professional Photog” is all wrong with khacki pants and red shirt!!!

So the lesson here is this…if you do take family portraits, try to match as much as possible.  EVEN if the photographer does not mention it…MOM make sure the )husband and kids match!  :)

Here are more images I’ve taken recently…

Need for speed…

I bought my first motorcycle in 2000, a Kawasaki ZX6r Ninja.  I’d never ridden a motorcycle before, well except on the back of my dad’s cruiser as a kid.  And I hated it!  So one day 20yrs later, I decided to take a weekend riding class.  If you ever decide to begin riding motorcycles, I would definitely take a class before throwing you legs over these fun machines.

Soon after I started riding, I was introduced to road racing.  My first motorcycle race I attended was at V.I.R, Virginia International Raceway.  I couldn’t believe the speeds these guys were riding.  I mean, I’ve seen the races on TV, but you really don’t appreciate the speed until you attend one of these events live.  My buddy Kevin Steen, a photography hobbyist at the time showed some images he had taken from the event.  From then on I was hooked!!!

I don’t get a chance to photograph these events much  because of my schedule, but I DO MISS it dearly.  Being around the bikes, the riders (such humble good people), and my fellow photographers…

A Fun Session…

Had a FANTASTIC family session with the Russell’s this past weekend. The rain stayed away long enough to get these great images with overcast clouds. I enjoy photographing in these type of conditions, just seems to add a certain mood to the images. Here are a couple of my favorites from the session.

The Beginning.

After a couple months since my new website was launched, I still did not have any posts on my blog. My talented web designer, Kenny Harper of www.keytheory.com told me I NEEDED to start blogging. So I started thinking what better way to start my journal than with my good friends William, Michelle, and little Gracie Meyers.

I go through phases were all my images are black and whites, it doesn’t matter how beautiful the colors are…at that moment my preferred images turn out to be in b/w.

Here are some images from our fun family shoot at the beach.  (click image for larger view)
